Oxclove Workshop, a Hudson Valley-based internet & marketing firm, announced today that it has been selected by The Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, Inc. to handle public relations, advertising and website promotion for the 2004 Clearwater Festival, scheduled for FatherÂs day, June 19 and 20, at Croton Point Park in Croton-on-Hudson, NY. The nationÂs oldest and largest festival of its kind, Clearwater is often called ÂThe festival that saved a river for the important role it plays in environmental education and in raising proceeds to help clean up the Hudson River. The festival showcases music and other performing arts as integral and vital parts of the Hudson River tradition while at the same time, presenting the latest concepts and best practices in environmental protection.
In announcing the agency signing, Festival Director Ron Aja said he was pleased to be able to choose a rural-based firm to handle the marketing of a festival with global interest. ÂOxclove Workshop along with its employees and collaborators, live the life we are trying to save and embody the values we hope to share, said Aja. ÂTo have resources like this at our back door and to know they have the capacity to handle a festival of this size and scope is really exciting for us.Â
Ric Dragon, President and CEO of Oxclove Workshop was equally enthusiastic. ÂThere can be no doubt that the internet has added incredible dimensions to the way we live and work, said Dragon. ÂWe will certainly be using traditional media to reach a loyal core audience of past visitors. But we anticipate that with greater emphasis on electronic media, we can reach a whole new generation of music lovers and environmental activists.Â
The diversity, caliber and sheer number of performers who play at the Festival attract thousands of music lovers every year. The 2004 festivities at the beautiful Hudson River peninsula are expected to attract 15-20,000 people for the weekend full of music, dance, games, crafts, story telling, theatre, environmental exhibits and more. Organizers expect highly talented performers on five stages, all powered with 100 percent solar, wind and soybiodiesel alternative energy.
The Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, Inc., better known as Clearwater is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of the Hudson River, its tributaries and related bodies of water. Founded in 1966 by folk singer and activist Pete Seeger and several of his friends, Clearwater conducts environmental education, advocacy programs and celebrations to protect the riverÂs fragile ecological system.
Oxclove Workshop has specialized in integrating business strategies with internet technologies to help businesses reduce costs and increase revenues. It will integrate the marketing efforts for the festival with the internet to provide an effective and reliable service for the Clearwater. ÂBy integrating traditional marketing techniques with new internet-based technologies, we are striving to create a stronger grass-roots campaign to support this yearÂs festival, said Oxclove CEO Ric Dragon. Equally capable of producing dynamic web solutions for small businesses and developing major enterprise-level applications, OW is uniquely positioned as an independent provider in the rapidly growing IT outsourcing industry.
